One Six Eight Media are specialists in the Digital Creative Arts. The company was founded by entertainment veterans who have worked in Feature Film, Television, Gaming and VFX. The company has accumulated a number of high profile clientele and cultivated relationships with numerous Government agencies.
Ama Training alongside One Six Eight are in the process of creating a suite of industry relevant training in the Digital Arts space.
This is an exciting venture as Ama Digital will open up a variety of training and employment opportunities in the Digital Arts field for our rangatahi.

Visual Arts and Design Foundation Course
We are offering a 12 weeks intensive foundation course in Visual Arts. Course will contain lessons in fundamental and advanced drawing and draughting techniques, before moving onto a digital component.
Candidate Profile
ESSENTIAL
At least 1 year of NCEA (or equivalent) in Art with

Basic understanding of human anatomy

Basic understanding of 1, 2 & 3 point perspective
SECONDARY SKILLS & QUALITIES

Good color vision - basic understanding of primary colors

Basic experience in various art mediums, including traditional and digital

Basic experience with some digital art apps

Basic knowledge of acting skills

Conceptualising skills - the ability to depict a scene through visual means

Observation skills - A good eye for detail and picking up on subtleties

Good critical thinking skills, problem solving

Ability to take direction and respond positively to feedback

Patience and stamina to work on painstaking detailed designs

Curriculum
WEEK 1 & 2
Drawing theory (3 hours daily)
Exploring drawing exercises that teach techniques in perceiving what one sees in different ways than they are use to.

Introduction to Life Drawing (2 hours daily)
Understanding the fundamentals of the human face and figure.
WEEK 3 - 6
Fundamental lessons in Still Life studies
Running concurrently with Life Drawing lessons and Drafting & Technical Drawing.
Still life studies (3 hours daily)
Basic Shapes - 2D drawing techniques to create 3D shapes.

Complex shapes - Applying lesson one to advances shapes, fit bowl/meal setting/ household objects

New Zealand Certificate in Arts and Design - (Level 2)
This foundation programme is aimed at those beginning their journey within the arts, digital media and design industries. The purpose of this qualification is to introduce akonga to a range of elementary arts, crafts or design skills and theoretical knowledge.
Ākonga of this qualification will have gained practical knowledge and skills to allow them to contribute to arts, crafts or design projects in preparation for additional studies.
Ākonga will be able to work under general supervision within the digital media and design industries.

People graduating from this programme will be able to:

Apply technical skills, work practices and technologies to produce and present creative work in arts, craft or design contexts.

Explore creative practices and processes of discovery, conceptualisation, review, iteration, prototyping and presentation to solve arts, craft or design problems.

Apply knowledge of the elements and principles of arts, craft or design practice to discuss the quality of creative work
The qualification provides a pathway from:
- National Certificate of Digital Media and Design (Level 3)
Entry requirements
Eligible learners must be one of the following:
(i) a Domestic Student, or
(ii) an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident currently residing in New Zealand.

New Zealand Certificate in Digital Media and Design - (Level 3)
This foundation programme is aimed at those beginning their journey within the digital media and design industries. The purpose of this qualification is to introduce ākonga to a range of practical skills and theoretical knowledge for these industries.
Graduates of this qualification will have gained practical knowledge and skills for additional studies, or to be able to work under limited supervision within the digital media and design industries.

Apply a range of technical skills and technologies to produce and present creative work in digital media and design contexts

Apply professional practices and creative processes of discovery, conceptualisation review, iteration, prototyping and presentation to design solutions in response to a digital media and design brief.

Apply knowledge of the elements and principles of digital media design to review the quality of creative work
The qualification provides a pathway from:
- National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) (Level 2) [Ref: 0973]
- New Zealand Certificate in Arts and Design (Level 2) [Ref: 2625].
Graduates of this qualification may progress to:
