PRIMARY INDUSTRIES
New Zealand Certificate in Primary Industry Operational Skills (Level 3) with optional strands in Specialist Equipment and Infrastructure.
This programme aims to develop a primary industry workforce who can safely and effectively complete operational activities relevant to vehicles, machinery, and infrastructure.
Through Ama Training, this qualification is aimed at ākonga new to the primary industries sector, those who are wanting a career change, or are not yet engaged in education, employment or training. This qualification is also targeted at iwi, hapū and marae new to the primary industries sector.
Where Ama Training will distinguish itself is the integration of Māori and Pasifika pedagogies. Where possible, local tikanga will be used to provide the local Iwi and Hapū context in relation to local resources and the whenua.
Ākonga will develop a range of competencies that contribute to the safe and effective operation of a primary industry workplace.
Graduates will be capable of working under limited supervision

Identify and Assist with the Management of Workplace Risk (12 Credits)
31833 Complete a risk assessment and develop recording systems for primary industry machinery use.
28624 Demonstrate and apply knowledge of sustainable environmental practices in a primary industry operation
Plan & carry out operational activities using mechanised equipment with consideration of environmental impacts (23 credits)
19044 Demonstrate knowledge of the legal requirements and hazards associated with tractor use.
31913 Operate a basic tractor on flat terrain under close supervision
24538 Demonstrate knowledge of tractor stability and the dynamics of tractors and attached implements
27215 Prepare to apply and apply agrichemicals using hand held equipment
21563 Describe hazard classification systems, and the safe and responsible use of agrichemicals
Manage personal well-being when carrying out primary industry operational activities (3 credits)

Entry Requirements
Eligible learners must be one of the following:

Be a NZ citizen.

Hold a full Category 1 driver’s license, and
-
If employed, must have the full support of the manager and company
Eligible learners must:
